"I Used to Dread Having to Workout" - How Jessica Transformed Her Relationship with Fitness
Have you ever looked at those super-consistent people who never miss a workout and wondered what magic potion they're drinking? The ones who somehow manage to prioritize their health even when life gets chaotic?
It’s common to think that those people are just wired differently. That they have some genetic predisposition to discipline that you simply weren't born with.
But after years of coaching women through their health and fitness journeys, I've learned something important: consistency isn't a personality trait. It's a skill that can be developed—with the right support and strategies.
And Jessica's story proves it.
From "Having to Workout" to Looking Forward to It
When Jessica first joined our GSD program, she was like many women I work with—intelligent, capable, and juggling a million priorities. She knew what she "should" be doing for her health, but somehow couldn't make it stick.
But eight weeks later? Everything had changed.
"I look forward to our virtual workouts and get so bummed if I can't make them," Jessica shared. "I used to dread 'having to workout'."
Let that sink in for a moment. She went from dreading movement to being disappointed when she couldn't participate. That's not just a change in behavior—it's a fundamental shift in identity and relationship with fitness.
And it didn't happen by accident.
The Magic Isn't in the Workout Plan
Here's what most fitness programs get wrong: they focus exclusively on the what (which exercises to do) and when (how many days per week), while completely ignoring the how (how to actually make it happen in real life) and the why (what truly motivates you personally).
Jessica didn't just magically start working out consistently. She built systems and mindset shifts that made consistency possible:
"I actually worked out at least 3x every week for the whole 8 weeks!" she shared. "My endurance has improved. I have more energy to do more workouts and stick with something even if I may want to give up."
But what's even more impressive than her physical progress is how her mindset transformed:
"I am still a work in progress, constantly learning and embracing failing, but the way that I look at those struggles is totally different. I have more compassion, I'm not afraid to try again or just neutralize how I may feel when I get overly emotional."
This right here? This is the real transformation. When you stop seeing setbacks as failures and start seeing them as data points. When you approach yourself with compassion instead of criticism. When you're willing to try again instead of throwing in the towel.
It's Not Just About Workouts
One of my favorite parts of Jessica's story is how her health journey expanded beyond just exercise:
"I became more conscious of eating veggies and adding them in. I also have gotten into some sort of morning routine that starts with me-time."
This is what sustainable change looks like. It's not about overhauling your entire life overnight. It's about making small, meaningful shifts that align with your values and priorities. It's about creating space for yourself in a world that constantly asks you to put yourself last.
For Jessica, that meant prioritizing me-time in the morning—a small but powerful act of self-care that set the tone for her entire day.
The Secret Ingredient: Personalized Support
When I asked Jessica what made the difference in her GSD experience, her answer was clear:
"One of the biggest things that I appreciate about GSD is that we've built a relationship where the coaches know when I'm showing up and not. They know where I need a push and also reminders of how far I've come (like the running goal)."
She continued: "It's also amazing because we all have very different lifestyles in this group and different struggles, and you both always remember little things and have suggestions on how to adapt that are customized to each of us. It's really wonderful."
This is exactly why I created GSD. Because generic fitness plans don't work for most women. We need support that recognizes our unique challenges, celebrates our specific wins, and meets us exactly where we are—not where some idealized fitness program thinks we should be.
The Result? Mind-Blowing Progress
Perhaps the most powerful part of Jessica's testimonial was this simple statement:
"Reflecting back, I actually made progress on all of my goals, which is mind blowing."
Mind blowing. Because making progress on ALL your goals feels almost impossible in our culture of burnout and overwhelm. We're so used to taking one step forward and two steps back that consistent progress feels like some kind of miracle.
But it's not a miracle. It's what happens when you have the right support, strategies, and mindset shifts in place.
Is GSD Right for You?
Jessica puts it perfectly:
"I recommend GSD to any woman who doesn't know where to start or wants a space to become a better and healthier version of themselves (and can hold themselves accountable). GSD is customizable to what you need, but also an amazing space to realize we're all badasses and sometimes you need other women to help you remember that."
(And yes, as Jessica mentioned, sometimes you get to see cute dogs and babies during our virtual sessions. Just one of the many perks of our real-life, no-filter approach to fitness!)
